Zeus is a super hand sensitive kitty! â¡ðï¸â¡
His skin jumps before he does, even when the ends of his hairs are barely touched. ð¬
And his coat ‘ripples’ in a wave of anxious antipication.
How to make headway with a cat whose nerves are wired on the tight side? ð¤
Well, rewiring is an option. â
One way to do that is to find a spot where they are less reactive and start there.
To my surprise, this boy’s spot is his belly. ð²
Yep. Who would have thought? ð¤·
If I start with slow, mini belly massages, he stays put long enough for me to begin to move to other areas.
It’s his ‘safe touch’ zone. ð
A secure basecamp, which can slowly be enlarged.
And a basecamp that can regularly be returned to when he becomes overstimulated. ð
So for now…
ð ‘no belly rub, no body rub’. ð
