Every cat is worth the effort… 🥇

Some snippets from Friday’s rural trapping trip.

Managing a colony so far from home has its challenges.

We can only stay for a night.

So everything has to be lined up and timed right. 🤞

We’re so grateful to have an amazing resident caretaker.

💕🙏💕

And community members who work with us for the benefit of the cats. 🫶

We’ve found that using a variety of humane trap styles and sizes works best.

Double door traps in particular can be very effective for savvy, streetwise cats (though they can also have temperamental trigger plates 🙄).

With a few tinkering modifications, the traps that can (sometimes) be dangerous for kitty tails can be made safe. 👌

Perhaps the funniest (and most frustrating) part is when the kittens are so small and light, they don’t trigger any traps at all! ðŸ˜

That’s when a drop trap and Humaniac net from Animal Care Equipment & Services (Australia) Pty Ltd come in very handy.

Hats off to Colin for hand netting no less than 5 kittens during the night! 👏
