220kms = One volunteer vet run ð
â½+â½+â½ = ð²ð²ð²
Winter morning vet runs are dark and icy âï¸
Thankfully Colin is a morning person hey
ð¬
In his words…
“I’m braving the pre-dawn dark and cold… fortunately for the cats I’d already driven for 25 minutes before picking them up…
then they had a journey of 107kms,
taking 1 hour 35 minutes
(including a stop for fuel)…”
That means by the time Colin gets to work for the day, he’s done around 3 hours of driving ð³
And we ain’t spring chickens anymore ð
We help out with SAVA – Saving Avon Valley Animals transport once or, more usually,
twice a week.
Sometimes more in kitten season.
Then there’s driving to pick up supplies, vet appointments for our own fosters…
Not to mention car maintenance âï¸
But GOSH does the fuel cost ADD UP! ð«£
I’m talking $120 a WEEK for 2 volunteer vet runs.
Seriously, it’s NOT sustainable.
Especially in this economy ð°
We NEED fuel sponsors please!
People who see the value of vet work for the Wheatbelt strays and can help keep our tank full.
If that’s you, then Hallelujah! ð
*****
In other news… Fundraiser target met!! ð
Thank you L for your contribution to the
Cat Haven intake fee.
And for gifting Lucky his very own food and litter donation! ðº
That boy may have been unlucky at birth but he’s landed soft due to your work in the Wheatbelt ð
