Farewell good friend ð§¡
Mr Gin, our elderly FIV+ foster, let us know in his quiet way, that he was ready to pass on earlier this week.
It was something we had been expecting, as he slowly began to sleep more and eat less.
During this time I was reminded again that keeping a close eye on any changes, even small ones ð, is really important!
Although he was never officially adopted
(it is very difficult to find homes for FIV kitties, especially the older ones ð¥º) this once feral lad didn’t lack for food, companionship or love. ð
The wonderful vets at
Heartlands Veterinary Hospitals in York helped us to care for Mr Gin as he approached his time (he simply loved the extra attention! ð½)
And gave him the most beautifully peaceful passing. ððï¸ð

Mr Gin’s last day with us.
Bird watching from his shady outdoor enclosure (on mildly sunny days) was his all time favourite thing to do! ð¦
Second only to his thick ginger coat being brushed and his ragged ‘Tom-cat’ ears being scritched. ð¤
Mr Gin received all the love an old, ex-feral Wheatbelt colony cat could ever want, as he contentedly stepped onto the bridge that took him away from us and toward his next destination. ðð
I hope we are able to give all our fur-friends such peaceful transitions when their time comes. ð
It’s the last gift we can give them.
