Milo’s big Monday… â
A lot happened. I’m still processing it all tbh.
ðµâð«
I was absolutely petrified to move him out of the incubator. ð«£
After the weekend vigil and holding my breath for 48 hours, I didn’t want to take any risks that he’d have a relapse of his flu symptoms. ð¨
But, as usual, Milo ended up surprising me.
Here’s what happened…
* He started eating independently.
I’m topping him up and ensuring he gets enough fluids.
He’s put on 500grams since last Wednesday and weighed in at about 1.6kg on Monday.
* He squatted to pee. ð®
I still had to manually express his bladder, but he knew he needed to go.
And as before, he was able to use his muscles to help with the process.
* He’s keeping his temperature stable.
He was so cold last Wednesday that no temp could be recorded. ð¥¶
* There’s no more nasal congestion.
But he will still continue his full course of antibiotics.
* It’s confirmed that he can now see from both eyes.
That’s kind of AMAZING, since he was blind last week. ð³
* And then there was that wobble-run!
I was NOT expecting that AT ALL ð
What’s up next?
Exercises to strengthen those legs and playtime in measured doses to increase his stamina.
Then another re-check with the vet next week.
There are still concerns as to his long term recovery of course.
But there’s no doubt that he IS slowly improving. ð
After all that activity (a few minutes and his tank was dry), Milo slept nearly all of Tuesday.
Waking him for feeds was hard but waking him for exercises was impossible. ð¬
So I stretched his legs for him and we began the 5 minute morning ‘floor play’ time today.
If you’ve ever undergone rehab after a traumatic accident or intensive surgery ð you’ll know how incredibly exhausting even the smallest of activities can be.
Milo is certainly giving it everything he’s got and then some though.
Along with the amazing veterinary staff who are going above and beyond for the little lad.
Go, go Milo! ð
