We seem to have a Ringworm Theme atm… 😄

Here are some pics of one of Lunar’s medicated washes.

You may remember Lunar from earlier this year. 🤔

Trapped by caring community members in the wheatbelt town of Kulin, this stray, feral kitten quickly began to adjust to human contact.

🩵🖤🩵

And show us his sweet ‘void kitty’ character. 🤗

Then he (unfortunately) caught 💍worm 😮‍💨

(the ‘worm’ that’s not a worm at all lol).

So quarantine in our ‘Fungus Factory’ shed was necessary.

But fast forward and Lunar has recently rejoined his pals, Brigitte and Garrett, in our bathroom. 👍

Although his (very thick n soft) coat hasn’t completely grown back in yet, he isn’t glowing green under a Wood’s Lamp anymore.

Which is a good sign. 💚

Some cats do take longer to recover from a fungal infection.

And because Lunar is FIV+, he is proving to be one of those cats that has needed just a little longer than the average. 🤏

That’s OK Lunar. I need a little longer than the average in many things too hon.

Brigitte and Garrett are helping shy, gentle Lunar to find his (confidence) feet.

Especially Brigitte.

She’s a brave little bundle of tux-ness that girl! 😚

A helpful tip I’ve learned during fostering…

My eyes aren’t as sharp as they once were. 🙈

So I find that by taking a video of my interactions with a cat, I can replay it later, pause, zoom in etc and spot things I may not be able to otherwise.

Like the fact that Lunar had some ear wax discharge in his left ear during the bath.

Something for me to keep an eye on. 👀

She doesn’t like being wet. 😾

But she does enjoy the extra attention. 😺

I’ve tried a few different products and methods.

But Austrazole in a warm water squeeze bottle is definately my favourite so far. 💦

No scary taps or spray bottles.

And plenty of time for scritches and scratches. 😻

Simply squeeze with one hand and massage with the other. 👌

I doubt Brigitte will be signing up for another bath anytime soon lol.

There’s always (at least) one in every house… 😳

Arya is a longtermer. ⌛

A SCAN cat we’ve been fostering for a long time.

She’s not cuddly.

She’s very quirky.

And she talks with her teeth. 🥴

She also has a heart on one side and Australia on the other. ❤️ 🇦🇺

(Depending on her position and how much imagination one has lol).

We’ve been lucky this year to secure more appointments with veterinary partners so that cats like Arya can be sterilised, treated for medical issues and have her teeth cleaned.

Arya’s journey has been a little ‘bumpy’, so she’s needed extra assistance and recuperation time. ❤️‍🩹

It’s suspected she had a traumatic event as a stray kitten, causing abdominal injuries and a hernia. 😟

Though due to being a rather skinny stray initially, it was awhile before this became apparent.

So during her spay, the hernia was also operated on.

However, there was a suspicion that a second hernia existed, located just above the first. 😬

Due to excessive swelling, this was difficult to determine.

So the plan was made to watch and wait, allowing recovery and reassessment.

During the recovery, Arya suddenly developed an abscess at the surgical site, which discharged (burst) leaving an open wound. 🫨

So off to the vet again we go… 🚗💨💨

And soon we’re home with medication and a huge sigh of relief! 😮‍💨

Then Arya was again operated on, to confirm and correct the second hernia. âœ

But…

Another abscess began to develop during recovery 😱

(though a little more slowly this time, phew!)

We again sought veterinary help, where it was decided that she most likely was allergic to the internal sutures. 😲

It was definately a first for us. 🤷

Through all the drama, Arya has continued to develop in confidence and character. 🤗

Oh… and booty displays.

She’s got that manoeuvre down! 🤣
