Pity I chose a day when all the flies in the

Avon Valley decided to hatch at once. 😉

Bluey Jean… The bobtail that thinks it’s a cat. 😉

We have a family of lizards living on our property.

🦎 (Born wild and staying wild).

And we often encounter them during the warmer days.

🌞

They are all called Bluey Jean, in honour of the one we saw and fell in love with years ago. 🥰

But this is the first time I’ve found one in a cat trap.

😳 (Humane trap, of course).

A timely reminder that summer is nearly here.

And that traps must be sheltered from the elements and regularly checked. âœ

I had a little spare cat food meat with me, so gave it to Bluey as a peace offering lol.

And became mesmerised by that tongue!! 😲

The strange story of Tiny Trev… 😃

A couple of years ago, we began fostering a very feral litter of 4 kittens with 💍worm.

Wonka, Daryl, Carol… And Tiny Trev.

Only it turned out that skin issues weren’t their ONLY issues. 😬

As is so often the case, they also had digestive and immune system problems.

Which all leads back to the microbiome. ⬅️

Tiny Trev was by far both the runt and the sickest of the litter. ❤️‍🩹

Various skin conditions and hair loss patterns made me wonder at one point if he was actually a Lykoi… 🐺

A partially haired breed of cat that looks like a wolf. 😲

But no, Trev was just very unbalanced on the inside, where it matters the most. 😔

Fast forward past various cat flus,

‘gastro bugs’ and the realisation that Trev was a girl, not a boy 🤦…

And check out the ‘new improved’ version today. 🤩

Now known as Lycan, in honour of her strange beginnings, she has outgrown most of her health issues. ↗️

Only retaining some sinusitis / catarrh symptoms which fluctuate with the seasons.

She eats a balanced raw protein diet… âœ

Often ‘whole prey’… 👌

Which is as natural as it gets for a cat.

I never could have imagined Lycan looking (or acting) as she does today! 🤗

Originally the most feral of them all, she is now my kitchen ‘helper’…

Always wanting to sit right in the middle of whatever I am doing. 🙄

And needing her daily dose of (Lycan style) lovies. 🥰

When kitties aren’t feeling the best, they often don’t have much of an appetite. 😿

Colin has been working with him day by day.

Smilie may never feel comfortable being a house cat…

But we’re hoping to get him a little more used to handling before he visits the vet for sterilization.

He’s still a typical Tom at this stage.

Peach Update… 🍑

Floofy ginger gal sprung out of her shell like a ‘jill-in-the-box’! 🙀

Thanks to foster carer Jing 💗, this lass went from box-bound to super-sound in short order.

She found her voice and let the whole world know about it! 📣 😬 📣

Whilst demanding treats and company, Peach still felt unsure about being touched. 🖐️

There can be a big jump between wanting pats and feeling brave enough to be patted. 😳

But sometimes kitties just have to take a deep breath and leap into the unknown. 🫶

After a few ‘hiss n hide’ moments, Peach found her mojo. 🌟

Cat in a (cat) box. 😀

Jones has been with us a long time. ⏳

He was very gentle, quiet and shut down as a younger adult. 💗

As he gradually came out of his shell though, Jones developed a dose of active ‘skittish-itis’. 😉

And gave us the impression that he would prefer to be a working barn cat. 🐀

Fast forward and Jones is once again morphing…

Into a slightly shy, but very sweet companion cat. 😽

He is a gentle soul who needs a gentle home.

As he sometimes has a mild flare-up of the skittish-itis.

And needs some time and reassurance to feel brave again. 🥰

Jones isn’t quite ready to find his forever home just yet though.

He has surgery booked to fix an umbilical hernia first. 🫶

It’s rather a mysterious hernia, as some days it is obvious and fairly firm.

(About the size of a 20c piece).

And other days it cannot be felt at all. 😳

Most days it’s somewhere in the middle.

Like a soft water bubble. 🫧

The cost of Jones’s hernia operation is $100.
