King of Floof, Zion, is not a fan of the human airlift.

(Being picked up lol). 🏋️

Which isn’t surprising for an adult rescue cat.

But it does make life easier if your cat lets you (or a vet) pick them up when required.

So I begin with small ‘lifts’ while he’s distracted. 👍

And accepting human hands all over aids in checking for injury, grooming, medicating and vet visits. 👌

Time for a quick Zeus update. ⏰

Although a skittish kitty, he’s slowly getting the hang of the hand. 🖐️

Ready to flee in a microsecond, there are moments when I see him let his guard down.

His fight or flight switch is definitely set to flight. ✈️

But hopefully he’ll stop circling the runway and land soon. 🛩️

I crunched into an apple in front of his crate the other day and he had a hissy meltdown. 😾🍎🙀

Doughall has been experiencing many ‘firsts’ in the few months since we opened our arms, and hearts, to him. 🤗

It will be awhile yet before he is ‘adoption ready’, but in the meantime…

Tabitha can’t believe her plate is empty already lol. 😳

This is my Mum’s cat, Tabitha Louise (TL).

She was one of our fosters and a perfect fit for Mum.

👌

TL loves her food 🍗… A little too much haha. 😬

And has four very small wet food meals throughout the day, in order to keep her calories down ⬇️ and her happiness up ⬆️

After finishing, TL will sit by her plate for awhile, contemplating the fact that it’s all gone. 🤔

And wondering where it all went. 😂

She will not be distracted by the promise of a pat.

And takes her vigil very seriously. 😉

An overweight cat is not a healthy cat. 😔

Though of course some cats are naturally more filled out than others.

It has taken quite a bit of diet management and exercise encouragement to get TL to where she is today. 🤩

Losing weight quickly is also not a healthy option, so we’ve taken a slow and steady approach. âœ

It may be tempting to give in to TL’s wishes and refill her plate pronto… 🍗🍗🍗

She does have the cutest wistful face after all! 🤗

But we’d not be doing her ANY favours.
