Gizmo… Showing us what courage looks like. ❤️‍🩹

We cared for this young lad last night after his veterinary appointment.

This morning Colin drove him back to his foster carer in Northam.

Can you believe he has a broken back leg?

With exposed bone in his foot?

😢

What an amazing creature! 💖

They have taken Gizmo under their wing and are planning the most appropriate treatment for him.

In the meantime, Gizmo has the medication he needs to remain comfortable, despite his unfortunate accident. 👌

Rambo – Status *ADOPTED* 🎉

I was so excited to hear that Rambo had found a forever home! 😃

And not just a home…

But a forever friend too. 🤗

This once tough tom adopted a cute kitten of his very own while in foster care with Freedom, the SAFE Avon Valley Co-ordinator.

Little Opal was feeling lost, and looking for comfort. 😿

And Rambo showed that his nurturing instincts were top shelf! 👌

In no time at all the unlikely pair became a bonded family. 💞

Then all our dreams came true when they were adopted…✨together!✨

It’s fairy tale stories like this that keep us moving forward. ➡️

Even when the going is tough. Really tough.

Yesterday we had to say goodbye to Rambo’s brother, Brent. 😔

He had been plagued with various health issues during his short life, but managed to pull through due to Yvette’s dedicated care at SCAN. ðŸ

Brent lived fairly healthy and very happy for many months.

He came to love ear scritches, booty scratches… 😽

and having his long, silky coat brushed.

We had high hopes that his would be a tale of runt to riches.

Unfortunately though, the genetic lottery, hard life, infectious diseases and poor diet of a stray cat ended up causing more issues than he could deal with. 😮‍💨

So the vets at Heartlands Veterinary Hospitals York helped us to give him the peaceful and loving passing he deserved. 🌈

And yes, he got those scritches and scratches all the way over the rainbow bridge.

It doesn’t get any easier.

Saying goodbye to the strays who never made it to adoption. 🥺

But one thing I know… They were loved.

We loved them as our own.

From the moment we see them, feeling all feral, sad and sick… ❤️‍🩹

we love them.

Live well Rambo. Live the best life for both yourself and your brother.

And continue to take care of your little Opal shadow. ❣️

This SAFE lass is still a work in progress. 🚧

But thankfully she is FIV and FeLV negative! 🎉

Merridith came into our care quite a while ago as a feral mumma with her kittens.

They all had ringworm and Merridith took a *very* long time to put on weight and re-grow her coat.

The kittens all grew strong and were adopted.

But Merridith has needed time. Lots of time. 🕘

Which is OK. 👌

We’re here to support her, no matter how long it takes.

When fully recovered, she’ll be reunited with her friend, Maeve.

I’m hopeful these skittish ladies will become a little more chill with the Feliway Friends diffuser. 🤞

But if not, they would still suit a home looking for independent cats.

Or possibly a very sheltered and monitored barn buddy position. 👨‍🌾 🚜 👩‍🌾
