Nutmeg (last 2 photos) is reserved, shy and rather shut down atm.
I’ve been able to get more hands on with her in order to clean and medicate her eyes. ð

And Wembles is the boy on the star mat, who co-operated by going into a trap. ð
The first sighting of this litter was 5 little black heads, all in a row, peering out from between layers of construction material. ð¥¹
In the week before we arrived, a couple of the siblings very suddenly passed away. ðª
It was sad news…
Though not unusual for litters born on the street.
Three ultra sweet kittens with the odds stacked against them.
Unfortunately, Wombles had also suddenly become very ill like her siblings.
Whilst intensive care helped her to feel comfortable, and even playful, she was declining very rapidly with a variety of health issues.

Barely one day after we met Wombles…
we had to say goodbye.
We packed (almost) a lifetime of love and care into her last day.
And she was amazingly happy and contented, enjoying all that we could give her… ð½
Proving once again that quality of life is a beautiful thing.
Wimbles and Wembles are doing well so far.
Though not completely healthy yet, they have great appetites and impressive litter trays. â
We hope with all our hearts that Wimbles and Wembles are strong enough to live long lives.

Not quite a cat ð¤, but Ava is in need of a new home, as loving as the one she currently has in Kulin.
She’s a 3 year old Kelpie x Huntaway.
Spayed and microchipped.
Her current owners are now finding it challenging to give a young, active dog like Ava all the exercise she needs. ð¶ââï¸
Ava is NOT suitable as a working dog.
But she would make a perfect family or companion dog.
She enjoys walks and sleeping on the bed.
And is respectful of people who need gentle handling.
Prospective adoptors will need to travel to the Wheatbelt town of Kulin to meet with Ava and her caring owners. ð

Nutmeg and Cinnamon are surprisingly mild tempered torties (at the moment anyway lol).
Paprika, on the other hand, is a firestorm looking for somewhere to land haha. ð¥
It’s going to be fun convincing this little lady to show us her sweet side. ðª
All four are eating well, which is always a huge step in the right direction after the shock of being trapped. ð
And working on clearing up the discharge from Cinnamon and Nutmeg’s eyes (which is due to mild cat flu symptoms).

This was my most difficult ‘hand catch’ to date.
But eventually, a little black baby was safely bundled in the Humaniac net… ð
And we could finally start the journey home.
Two of the kittens had passed away suddenly and unexpectedly in the last week before we arrived unfortunately. ð¤ð¤
Genetic issues from interbreeding and disease issues from colony living are very real. â¤ï¸âð©¹
Their mumma is on our radar and we will be relieved when she is trapped and spayed… ð

Like Lunar, a sweet, friendly black kitten that was trapped near bushland by kindly folk who wanted him to have a chance at a good life. ð
Responsible and caring town and farm residents of the area are getting on board with effective and humane cat management.
So far we’ve collected 6 feral kittens of varying ages.
It’s a hard life…
And it only gets harder for them.
We’re hoping we can nab the last kitten from this managed colony before we start the long trek home. ð
Her ginger mumma is pregnant again and feeding young kittens somewhere in the neighbourhood.
So although we spent time checking her over after she went in a trap, we set her loose so she can continue to care for her babies. ð
We’ll be back in a few weeks when we hear that her kittens are out and about, feeding independently.
