Zoe recently had a major dental with extractions.

So she’s understandably over it all lol. ❤️‍🩹

Beneath her prickly exterior is plenty of potential.

But for now she’s all wide eyes and jump scares. ☠️

Another gal who talks with her eyes, lives life to the full and prefers her space.

A Kulin ‘sweet n sassy’ speciality.

Tegan came into care as a spicy kitten and has been with us ever since.

There isn’t a lot of interest in cats like her. 😔

So she and her pal, Tash, have grown up in foster care.

And with the new kitten season now underway, she and many like her will probably be fosters until at least next year… 🗓️

This is the reality of rescue nowadays.

Cats and kittens come into care, but there are no guarantees when, or even if, they will be adopted.

Especially the ‘funky monkeys’ we take onboard.

Those with health or behavioural issues that many people see as too challenging to cope with. 🫣

Sadly, if foster cats can’t find homes, that means foster carers must shut their doors to new intake.

The delicate rescue chain is currently being stretched to breaking point across WA. 😮‍💨

Farewell good friend 🧡

Mr Gin, our elderly FIV+ foster, let us know in his quiet way, that he was ready to pass on earlier this week.

It was something we had been expecting, as he slowly began to sleep more and eat less.

During this time I was reminded again that keeping a close eye on any changes, even small ones 👈, is really important!

Although he was never officially adopted

(it is very difficult to find homes for FIV kitties, especially the older ones 🥺) this once feral lad didn’t lack for food, companionship or love. 💞

The wonderful vets at

Heartlands Veterinary Hospitals in York helped us to care for Mr Gin as he approached his time (he simply loved the extra attention! 😽)

And gave him the most beautifully peaceful passing. 🌟🕊️🌟

This photo was taken on Wednesday,

Mr Gin’s last day with us.

Bird watching from his shady outdoor enclosure (on mildly sunny days) was his all time favourite thing to do! 🐦

Second only to his thick ginger coat being brushed and his ragged ‘Tom-cat’ ears being scritched. 🤗

Mr Gin received all the love an old, ex-feral Wheatbelt colony cat could ever want, as he contentedly stepped onto the bridge that took him away from us and toward his next destination. 💕👋

I hope we are able to give all our fur-friends such peaceful transitions when their time comes. 🙏

It’s the last gift we can give them.

How to Dog 101 🐶

Taran has been a busy lad.

Catching up on nearly 2 years of missed training and socialisation. 🫨

He’s learning…

* to walk on a lead without pulling

(me off my feet 🥴)

* to be social with other dogs

(not knock them over like ten-pins 😵‍💫)

* to be calm around horses

(and never chase them 😬)

* to dog in a car

(he’s a natural at this one 🤗)

Taran is also learning just how

BIG the world is! 🌏
