Uncle Ranga and the tweens 🧡

Who would have thought that Ranga, the needy ginger foster who often doesn’t like other cats, would make such an amazing nanny?! 😳

He’s taken the 6 older kittens under his wing.

There’s no sassy business allowed when he’s on duty.

And grooming is a necessity, not an option. ðŸ˜

Creamy treat mayhem! 🤪

I introduced the 6 older kittens to Dine’s delicious treats.

Haha… What a pack of piranhas! 🫣

I wasn’t prepared for the rather extreme reaction and ended up with claws and scuffles. ðŸ˜

So I decided it was safer for everyone to minimise competition and squeeze the treat on the clean crates.

These older kittens were literally climbing the bathroom walls when they came into care. 😬

They’ve come a long way since that first day.

Though they obviously need more practise in the art of taking treats lol.

And I need one of those treat dispenser spoons! 🙋

There’s four levels in this crate.

And the kittens use every one of them lol.

They’re still gaining confidence being handled

(and medicated), so keeping them corralled is easier than trying to ‘herd cats’ running rampant in the room.

Though we’ve done some of that too. ðŸ˜

💡 I’ve found that paper towel lined litter trays work really well for kitties that like to play in their tray.

And fling the litter FAR and wide. 🤦

Squeeeezing cats into our lives… 🤪

We took Mumma Ginger, her calico daughter Tuumi and their four kittens to see the vet today.

They all have some mild to moderate cat flu symptoms 🤧 and require medication to help them recover swiftly.

We guess that Mumma Ginger is around 5 years old.

And this was most likely her first time meeting a vet!

Imagine being middle aged and never having seen a doctor in your life. 😳

Thank you Forrestdale Veterinary Hospital for making room for us and our menagerie. 🙏

We also picked up the SAFE Avon Valley cats after their spay and neuter appointments.

And began the hour and a half long trek to deliver them to their Northam foster home.

No vetted cat clips this time…

Just a cute dilute kitten and the sweet seal point from the previous vet run. 🤗

Update on the 8 kittens…

They’re doing well.

Antibiotics are clearing the upper respiratory symptoms. 👍

Their little personalities are blooming 🌻 and showing us who the real characters are. ðŸ˜

A rather LARGE vet pick-up, where Colin’s tetris skills were the critical component in getting THAT many cats into my rather SMALL car. ðŸ˜

It’s always satisfying to see cats and kittens we’ve trapped getting their vet work done. 👌

Dog transport… 🐶

We had the privilege of meeting these two delightful ‘friends-in-waiting’ on Saturday. 🤗

Picking them up from Heartlands Veterinary Hospitals in York and driving them to Hawke View Kennels and Cattery in Wundowie (after routine vet work).

Thank you to vets and kennels for being such a valuable part of the rescue chain network! 🙏

Sweet little Gizmo is one of the prettiest dogs I’ve ever seen! 😊

And dear Millie relaxed once she realised that it was time for a road trip and a walkie! YIPEE!

That girl LOVES the sky over her head and grass beneath her feet! 🩵💚
