TL is my Mum’s kitty companion.

A former foster of ours.

Amazing to think that she started out the same as so many others.

A feral pregnant stray with a hard life and limited options.

Now she’s very particular about most things.

Except food. ☝️

She’ll eat anything she can get her paws on.

Left anything edible on the kitchen counter?

It won’t be there for long. ðŸ˜

She never skimps on her dining standards though.

TL will take your forgotten food to her meal mat before devouring it with gusto. 😋

Heaven forbid she take even a nibble unless she’s properly positioned on her mat. 😂

Wednesday’s vet trip continued… 👩‍⚕️

Sugar, the sweetest little fluffy tabby and white mumma, struggled in the heat on Wednesday.

And we couldn’t even turn on a fan for her. 🥺

So frozen water bottles and cooling mats helped to keep her somewhat comfortable.

She also enjoyed the car’s air conditioning… ❄️

And Heartlands Veterinary Hospitals was wonderfully cool when we arrived in the late afternoon. 🤗

Sugar was given antibiotics for her mild cat flu symptoms and checked out via ultrasound.

No issues were found and she’s doing much better now that the weather is cooler! 😽

Paprika the torti was also at the vet…

For an FIV/FeLV test.

(Her second one, the first being when she had her spay surgery as a kitten).

And she’s negative again for both viruses!!

🎉🤩🎉

This was *extremely* welcome news for us!

As Paprika was brought into care as an older kitten with the dilute torties, Cinnamon and Nutmeg, who both tested positive for FIV and FeLV. 😔

Feline AIDS and Feline Leukaemia.

Nutmeg unfortunately was pts due to kidney failure a few months after coming into care.

But Cinnamon is going well for now and enjoying every day. 😻

If you’ve been following for awhile, you may remember that Paprika was an extremely spicy lass in early 2023.

All spice and no nice in fact. 😬

I described her as an “off the charts crazy spitfire”.

😂

Fast forward and she’s handed in her Feral Card, becoming quite the people-social butterfly. 🦋

For a Kulin torti that is. ðŸ˜

Vet visit… 👩‍⚕️

During the heatwave on Wednesday (with no power 🥵) we took 10 kittens and 3 adult cats to the vet.

Most of them needed treatment for mild to moderate cat flu. 🤧

Including the 3 little seal point kittens.

It’s been a challenging week all round since that storm ripped through the Avon Valley and Wheatbelt. ⛈️

Thank you Heartlands Veterinary Hospitals for being available despite the frustrating issues with electricity supply and phone service.

Our dedicated vets are saving lives every day! 🌟

I’ve affectionately named the torti kitten with the most attitude ‘Hissy Missy’.

She rarely stops lol.

And while her jump scares are cute, they’re also committed! ðŸ˜

All kittens are taking their antibiotics like champs and are doing well so far. 👌

Yikes…

Eyes can go from bad to burst super fast. 😱

And fleas can easily lead to anaemia in kittens.

Not to mention they get tapeworms when they swollow the fleas!

Ugghhh, right? 😖

Thank goodness for medicated eye ointment and kitten flea treatment! 👍

Huge thanks to the dedicated resident who scooped up these precious fur-bubs last week. 💯

It’s when the community mobilises and works with us that we see real results!

They seem ‘fairly’ healthy (so far)… ❤️‍🩹

Apart from the usual eye and upper respiratory infections that is… plus parasites. 😬

All are eating well and settling into a routine though.

There are three seal points in the group… 😘

Stunning beauties who will no doubt attract a lot of attention when they are old enough for forever homes.

Our fosters go to SAFE Avon Valley for adoption.

And each of these sweet, precious kittens will need loving homes in a few weeks time. 🏡

Raining cats… 20 trapped in 1 night! 🫨

After our last two trapping efforts, we thought we’d have an easy weekend.

Just a few kittens living under a house…

An adult or two.

Haha. Ha. 🤦

But wait, there’s more…

17 kittens and 3 stray adults more. 😵‍💫

(The little gingers were fairly easy to scoop up with the safe Humaniac Net. 🥅 )

So in ONE month, a total of 49 cats have been rescued from ONE Wheatbelt town.

36 of them are kittens. 😳

Just imagine if those kittens had begun having kittens of their own.

Actually, no.

I don’t want to imagine that. 🫣

Shadow… the last of Mumma Ginger’s 5 torti girls!

She wasn’t thrilled about being transported away from all she knew. 🥺

But I’m glad we brought her into care with her family.

She had lost her first litter due to miscarriage last year.

And she sadly also lost her second litter recently. 😔

Shadow is doing well now though. ❤️‍🩹

Still adjusting to life in foster care, but slowly gaining confidence and weight.

She’s even enjoying some smooches! 🤗

We collected a serious haul of supplies and delivered them to the wonderful Alison yesterday. ✨💖✨
