Zoe… 🤍💚🤍

The last of our ‘Z Gang’…

A group of cats from a Perth colony that were all given Z names by their rescuer. 🤗

It took a long time for this lass to hand in her feral card.

But it happened… eventually.

I doubt she’ll ever be a smoochy bed bug (though you never know).

She’s independent and likes her own space.

Great with other cats. Doesn’t mind dogs.

Lets us pat her a little when she’s eating.

And only needs a little wet food to stay in shape.

Basically, she’s really low maintenance! 💁

And has two main modes…

1) All good, I don’t need you (first pic)

2) I’m telepathic and reminding you to feed me now! (second pic)

ðŸ˜

One thing she DOES need though is an *indoor* only home, due to her pale colouring.

(Or with access to a sun-sheltered cat enclosure).

It’s hard to find homes for shy adult cats during kitten season (or any season for that matter).

So #PleaseShare little Miss Zoe far and wide.

Her family must be out there somewhere…

Out of the trash and into care…

The Trash Can Kitties are delightful! 🤗

I *think* we’ve got them all…

Four in total.

And after further investigation and site monitoring, we think that mumma is AWOL.

And may have been so for awhile. 🥺

But if she turns up, we’ll be hot on her heals.

Full Circle Trapping is absolutely essential!

And yes… I turn into a blathering babbler when we trap a cat. ðŸ˜

I mean, all that CUTE, right? 🤷

Trapping Trash Can Kitties 🗑️

So we were told about a litter of stray kittens in a Wheatbelt town we haven’t worked in before.

We didn’t have a lot of information to go on…

But the Roadhouse employees were absolutely *fantastic* and SO helpful! 🙏🫶

An initial scout of the location showed us that these babies were well sheltered under and around buildings.

And were eating yummy food scraps in the bins. 😋

I know, I know… We think 🤢 but the kittens loved it ðŸ˜

(Of course, they’ll love being adopted even more!)

Over 2 days, we mapped and trapped.

And kept an eye out for mum.

We never do anything without permission, exploration and examining google maps.

(I LOVE my maps lol!)

What was the outcome? 💁

Cats and their tails 😂

Mogwai will sit on the sink ledge and wait for the pet meat to defrost.

If his tail happens to float in the warm water, well…

He always was a laid back cat lol.

And ginger 😆

We adopted Mogwai after working hard to save his teeny tiny life.

He had one of those super rough starts and almost didn’t make it. 😬

Although we’ll always have to manage some lingering health issues, it doesn’t stop him from being first in line at meal time! 😋

I wish the world had a pause button. 🛑

So we could catch up and recover.

But life roars on, as my Mum says.

And rescue roars on even louder.

* The fosters still need feeding.

* Plans to assist owned and stray cats still need to be made.

* Transport to and from vet clinics still needs to happen weekly.

Rescue ROARS on. 🫣

But then I look at all these sweet, innocent souls.

Aren’t they just beautiful?

Even the noisy one ðŸ˜

So we keep going.

We grieve and keep going.

Sharing sad news isn’t easy.

And this share is particularly hard. ❤️‍🩹

Little Man Milo suddenly declined this evening.

We knew it was time to say goodbye.

He was comfortable, not in any distress and passed peacefully at the vet.

We’ll remember him as the adventurous and rambunctious kitten that he was.

And we thank everyone who has accompanied and assisted us on this difficult journey.

Here is one of my favourite photos of Milo (right) with one of his sisters, Oreo (left) when they were younger.

They had just finished eating and then snuggled up together. So cute. 😘

A life is measured in love, not in years.

And Milo reached a grand old age of love.
