What a weekend…

We headed out to Kulin on Saturday to rescue strays.

But returned on Sunday without a single cat.

🤷

Which was very fortunate as we came across this scary incident on the Quairading-Corrigin Road.

😬

Amazingly, everyone involved was unharmed.

Including the dog!

Hats off to Steve from Northam Towing & Tilt Tray Service for prompt and professional vehicle retrieval! 👌

We offered a lift to York and have never had such a calm and well behaved canine passenger. 😍

Thankfully our car wasn’t filled with felines!

Has a kitty ever presented you with an unexpected litter? 🙋

It’s cute and all, but… What to do, right?

A lot of responsibility and cost.

Rehoming kittens without their vet work done (or a voucher for vet work) is not allowed by law.

That means it’s actually illegal when you see

people selling or giving away kittens or cats that aren’t sterilised.

And it’s a law because the cat overpopulation problem is a really BIG problem!

😱

But vet work can be beyond our current resources at times.

So if you’re in that situation, don’t despair.

(and papa cats) ‘snipped n chipped’.

And finding suitable adoption homes for kittens once they are old enough for their vet work to be done (around 8 weeks).

Then no more surprise packages and no unsterilised kittens to add to the overpopulation problem.

Colin found a corella a week ago.

Walking on a Wundowie road, in a daze. 😳

It seems there’s a ‘bird distribution system’ at work here lol. ðŸ˜

He popped it in a carrier, kept it covered and quiet and off to the vet it went…

Then on to Kanyana.

I don’t have much of an idea about birds.

🤷

But as it was alone, had no tail feathers and looked rather thin we felt it needed some help.

Kanyana contacted Colin to confirm exactly where he had found it.

So that if release is possible after rehabilitation, they know it’s ‘address’.

As things often come in threes, I’m half expecting to find another bird in need soon.

Mumma Spudy is spayed! 👏

And she’s also had a rotten tooth removed.

😲

Yesterday was a BIG day for this tough n pretty kitty!

All cats have to fast before surgery, so today Spudy is making short work of her chunky chicken meals.

The kittens she adopted are being fed separately now, so they pretty much just watched on in awe as Spudy showed them how it’s done! ðŸ˜

When cats have unexpected health issues, it makes meeting expenses even harder than usual.

And it’s usually pretty darn hard.
